All-in-One System For BrightLink Pro

Grant's Perspective on ... Chief's  new All-in-One System for mounting the Epson BrightLink Pro in a conference room.

With the introduction of the Epson BrightLink Pro 1410Wi,  Chief has identified a need to aesthetically mount the projector for the boardroom, corporate training facility and conference room.

The system includes the IDEA projection screen that minimizes projector hot spots and also serves as a dry erase board. The mounting system allows cables to be hidden behind the screen but do not have to be run behind the walls. There is also a valance that hides the projector and projector cabling from view.  The valance and trim are available in 3 colours (cherry, aluminum and teak) to better match the room.

And with it being a Chief product, you know it is easy to install and adjust!

Interavctive Short Throw Mount By Chief

Grant's Perspective on ... Chief interactive short-throw mount.

Our Chief representative brought the new interactive short throw mount to a training session for new Inland AV staff members. This is designed to mount a regular short throw projector and the mount adds interactive technology.  Great for organizations that currently own short throw projectors. With four throw length ranges, you can even use a regular throw projector to achieve an 80” diagonal screen

While the mount is designed to be mounted on a wall, we temporarily set the mount and ultra-short throw projector on a table, and used the table surface as the interactive area.

Chief To Introduce Interactive Monitor Kit

Grant's Perspective on ... Chief introducing an interactive monitor kit very soon.

We attended the 2012 Chief road-show in Winnipeg yesterday. Chief has expanded their line of AV mounts recently to include interactive kits. Back in September I commented on the projector mount that included an interactive module that would turn any regular projector into an interactive projector.

Below is a close up photo of the interactive module on the projector mount.

This same technology will soon be available as a part of a a display monitor mount kit! You will now be able to turn any commercial monitor (that you can touch the display surface without marking it) into an interactive monitor.

Allison (our friendly, helpful Chief representative) did not have a sample of the yet to be released display mount but she did have an illustration that we can share with you. The module is similar to the projection mount module but it looks to be much smaller. See illustration below. The monitor is mounted to the bracket and the "interactive accessory" (left side of the photo below) is in place just above the monitor glass. The monitor and bracket are then mounted on a wall or stand and it is ready to go!

I remember an Inland AV salesperson commenting when the BrightLink Solo first came out saying "I wonder when we will have an interactive kit for monitors?" He can wonder no more because it will be released in the next month!

Mounting Two Large Video Monitors

Grant's Perspective on ... attractive monitor mounting in multi-display situations.

Getting two or more monitors mounted side-by-side can be a chore. Basically monitors are two large flat plains and when adjoined any deviation between the two can be very noticeable and therefore will look sloppy and careless (i.e one is higher than the other,  further from the wall than the other,  tilted more than the other, the bezels do  not line up,….).  Dual monitors are often used in videoconferencing applications and therefore must appear “right at home” as the monitors are the main focus point in the room.

Chief has developed a wall mount system that alleviates this issue - the Chief LSMU Fusion Universal Flat Panel Micro-Adjustable Mount for 37" - 63" Displays.  With this system both monitors are attached on the same mounting apparatus and therefore align the same, resulting in a good looking display assembly.

While Chief has some really well produced Fusion videos, I'm partial to their "work shop" production quality but highly informative video. They use clear glass plates as monitors so you can always see how the mount works. At about the 3:20 mark, they demonstrate a 2 display videoconference mounting system. The modular Fusion components are able to mount 2 large displays, speakers and video camera. I have posted a screen shot of the 2 display mount below and the full video link below.

The Chief Fusion mounts have impressed the clients and  Inland AV installation techs. Their flexibility in stud location, centerless shift, leveling and quick connect cable access is appreciated by the techs. The clients notice that the monitor is exactly where they want it and it looks great. In this situation I should say, what you don't see looks great.
